The day Facebook shut me down was the best sales day of my life

Dear friend,

April 2017 was the fifth anniversary of Liberty Classroom. I had promised my audience a sale I would offer only once every five years, and I planned to promote it the way I had in the site’s early years: with a lot of money behind Facebook ads.

That day, I found out Facebook had suspended my ad account.

They later admitted there had been no grounds for it, and apologized. Well, that did me a lot of good. On the one day of the year I needed it most, I couldn’t run a single ad.

So the campaign came down to one question: could email do it alone?

I mailed my list six times in 24 hours, a number that would give some email marketers a heart attack. And I had the single best day I had ever had.

The one asset nobody can switch off

That day proved what I’d been learning for years: platforms change their rules, suspend accounts, and bury your posts. Your email list is the one asset nobody can take away from you.

I’ve made money from my list while stuck in a jury room, unable to leave. I turned a chance encounter with Bruce Willis at a rock concert into a campaign for a $7 ebook, and it paid for the entire trip: airfare, hotel, tickets, meals, parking, everything.

Every Black Friday weekend I email my list at least 15 times. It’s my most profitable weekend of the year. And I’ve got a secret, revealed inside, to how the whole thing takes me about an hour to prepare.

Why most email lists earn so little

Look in your own inbox. “Our October newsletter is here.” “A quick update from our team.” “Don’t miss this exciting opportunity.” Every message reads like the last one, and you delete them all without a second thought.

Many of the people sending those emails have big lists. They know how to build a list. Then they squander it, because nobody wants to read what they send. They could be gazillionaires, but they don’t know how.

The standard advice makes it worse: email once or twice a week, and sell in only one message out of four. Let those people take that advice. If you hate money, definitely follow it.

I do the opposite. I email every day, and I sell in every email. And my readers write to me to say, “I know exactly what you’re up to, and I still love opening them.”

In the Tom Woods Email Domination Program, I show you exactly how I do it, from building a list from zero, to writing emails people look forward to, to turning those emails into income.

An email list is an extraordinarily lucrative asset, but most people don’t know how to build one, or if they do, they don’t know how to monetize it.

Based on my years of experience, I’m going to show you how to do both.

The proof is on the leaderboards

Inside the program

Here’s some of what you’ll discover

Writing emails people open

  • RadioShack’s fatal mistake, and why most people with email lists are making it right now
  • The two-sentence email that generates more clicks than any other all year (but use sparingly, no more than every six months)
  • “I know exactly what you’re up to, and I still love opening them.” How to get your readers saying that
  • Why almost any oddball thing that happens to you can bring in sacks of cash, and make more sales than the snore-inducing emails of your competitors
  • The bad subject-line habit that marks your email as “marketing” before anyone opens it
  • A $7 ebook, Bruce Willis, and a New York Jethro Tull concert: the email I consider nearly perfect, and how it paid for my entire trip
  • The dumb trick newbies use that turns their prospects off
  • The “ugly” link in your email that will get more clicks than a neat one
  • How a doctor’s exam, an airport pat-down, and a morning stuck in a jury room each became emails that sold

Making your critics pay you

  • The coupon code I named after my nasty critic, the Broadway trip it paid for, and how you can monetize your haters (and if you have no haters, how you can monetize other people’s haters)
  • How every attack on an institution I support earned it another $1,000
  • Why “I just threw someone off my list” gets opened every time, and how to turn it into a pitch

Building your list

  • The $97 purchase that helped me generate over $100,000 while building my list, on a page most people waste (so don’t waste that page!)
  • Why a boring and ugly, almost blank email signup page beat my attractive one by 18 percentage points
  • The form field that costs you subscribers (I’ve never regretted not having it)
  • The one word at the top of your post-signup page that will stop people in their tracks, and make them do what you want
  • The “broken” page on my website that builds my list anyway
  • Why 1,000 subscribers is your first real milestone, and why you may never need 100,000
  • The fastest way (that nobody thinks to use) to build a list of buyers
  • The technique that generates the most red-hot subscribers
  • What to promote when you’re a guest on someone’s podcast (hint: not your website)

Emailing, selling, and getting paid

  • Why “once or twice a week” keeps people broke, and the single change that puts you ahead of almost everyone
  • How I break all the email marketing rules one weekend a year, generate six figures, and spend no more than an hour on the whole thing (go and do likewise)
  • Why selling in every email beats sending “goodwill” emails with nothing for sale
  • How an organization you’ve heard of ruined a thriving email list, and how my method would have prevented it
  • A simple way to keep whiners, complainers, and high-maintenance people off your list
  • The upsell that costs you nothing to create and turns your buyers into a sales force for you

Yes, I want the program and the book

Most of your competitors will keep sending “wait until you see this!” emails that nobody opens. Let them. You’ll be writing the emails people look forward to, and turning your list into an ATM.

See you inside,

Tom Woods
